But most of all, the Tacchino Ciclocross will have... wait for it...
The Suitcase of Sausage

If you don't recognize mid-pack sausage primes as the single finest prize that cyclocross has to offer, then you are a nothing but a swine, a pig. Because swine, and in the case of the Hebrew National kosher franks pictured above, certain rabbinically approved cows, are the only creatures in the universe that don't groove on sausage primes. I'm told there are reasons for this but frankly I just don't see them. Anyhow...
All the fields have at least a few spots open. If you know you're going to get your butt kicked tomorrow, but still come out and race hard, then you're definitely man or woman enough to grab our sausage. Come ride the Tacchino tomorrow and see if you can snag one of these beauties. They include, but aren't limited to:

- Men's 4 - The Jason Pearlman Memorial Hebrew National Quarter Pound Beef Franks (Kosher)
- Men's Master 3/4 - Boar's Head Pepperoni Prime. It's a little wrinkled and aged, but it's hard as a rock and spicy as ever.
- Women's 3/4 - Jimmy Dean Bold Country Breakfast Sausage, "Seriously Hot"
- MABRA Juniors 18 & Under, 16 & Under - Hillshire Farms Li'l Wieners or Johnsonville Brats
- Men's Master 1-2-3 - Hillshire Farms Polska Kielbasa - it's not so hot, but it sure is salty
- Women's 1-2-3 - Crofton My Butcher & More Apple / Maple Syrup Pork Sausage - Sweet, and it'll disappear from sight faster than you'd think.

Jason Pearlman -- THE Jason Pearlman?
From Long Island?
I remember being at Junior Devo camp about 18 years ago (!!!!!) at the Lake Placid OTC where some wankers vandalized his bike. Small world.
A truly well run, awesome event Jim. Squadra Coppi should be proud. Your comments on the course were spot on and I am very happy not to have read them until Monday, which allowed me to somehow soldier on during the actual race.
Agreed -- it was truly a harder course than last year -- mentally, if not physically. It was also especially tricky as the frost melted to create a fine dew on the beautifully manicured high-speed turns. Thanks for helping me suffer, Jim.
Damn sorry to have missed this fine event. Seriously, but I was out in the woods orienteering my way through Patapsco and sucking at it. The better excuse is I have been sick, fighting some bug and it would have been rude to spread that around the cross community...plus I threw up yesterday, no one wants that on their course.
AH - maybe. Go to his blog and ask him.
ydt - thanks, so glad you enjoyed it. Hearing comments like that makes the work and the ensuing exhaustion all worthwhile.
Apuleius - it definitely had an Italian cross course vibe to it, didn't it? Nothing that lept out as overtly technical but the speed made formerly minor features deadly. Just what we were looking for - a relentless course that is a good pairing with our relentless road race. (It is time to retire the "r" after that little burst of alliteration).
KML - you wouldn't have been the only person throwing up on that course.
