YARD SALE!!!!!

You simply aren't racing cross if you don't crash hard once in a while.

My man Steve, who is a great guy and a stone cold hammer on a single speed Bianchi, had a *great* race at Nittany Lion 'Cross, right up until the finish, where he broke a crank or de-chained, and stacked it, missing the win by a nose. Here's the photo sequence - it's an *epic* crash:

Cross gives us many embarassing and humiliating moments. Rest assured Steve, knowing that, I'm marveling at your crash here, not laughing at you. I know better than to laugh; the Green Ripper visits me once in a while too, and I wouldn't want to tempt him by laughing at your misfortune.

He even made Cycling News.
Btw, been thinking about the next race as soon as I finished Charm City.

That may have actually beat my endo at Charm City this past weekend. Glad to not have photographic proof of that though.

Lucky he had some grass to cushion the blow.
BTW - where was the mud? Our local races this weekend should be a slip&slide affair w/ all the rain we're getting this week.

I raced w/ him a lot this season (pink bar tape and big beard... can't miss him) he seemed to end up that way often....

WOW, that was neat! He makes crashing look so cool :)

Good News on Steve:

According to BikeForums (I won't give away his screen name), he just scored a sweet frame for a geared setup. Steve is a hammer on SS, so watch out for him on gears!

James - told you, if the bug bites, you get the disease. Bad.

LNH - I didn't see yours, but if anybody has pictures, I'd probably pay cash for them...

Boz - it's being delivered tonight through Saturday AM.

Terry & KML - Steve shaved Sunday AM, due to a terrible accident involving some scissors. So now he only looks half as cool.

FGR - you wouldn't be saying that if he'd kicked *your* ass a dozen times in a row last year.

Steve - I think it's the beard. It was like your Samson power or something. Now you're screwed. Should have left it half-butchered...

Jason - [nods head, sadly]

i doubt anyone is going to see me racing a geared bike this year.

luckily for me and my eastern european roots i can regain my samson powers in just a few days.

I'm just a little concerned that there seems to be no physical reason for that endo.

How do you justify such a spectacular "off" with a dog or a shopping bag in the front wheel?

Jim said...

Mike - I learned in Crashaholics Anonymous that if you need a reason to crash, then you have a problem.

the only explanation i can offer is that my rear wheel was pulled forward during the sprint causing my chain to pop off sending me forward over the bar.
