Why?
Well, aside from heading to Upstate NY to visit the family, I'll be participatin' in the CX@Brewery Ommegang.
It seems that America's premier brewer of Belgian-style beers began a cross race last year. Along with running it up and down and all around on the brewery premises, the course ran into a fest tent, pulled a tight hairpin turn, and ran right back out of the fest tent, much to everybody's amusement.
I have no idea what the race will be like, but it looks damn promising from where I sit. There's a strong possibility that my race weekend will involve the consumption of Dubbel, Tripel, Hennepin Ale, and a return trip to D.C. with a couple cases of fine, fine Belgian brew. Throw in a little diversionary trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame, and we're talking about a good little outing.
So I may be on radio silence for a few days. I'll try to have some pics and give you a full report, providing it all works out as planned. If not, I'm sure I'll have an alternative story for you...
Good luck this weekend, y'all.

Bonus Coverage: Kalidurga or her buddy took this picture.
Yeah, that's my tree stumps. Yeah, that's Ed Sanders' finest all over my bike.
Yeah, that's a live worm that got sucked up and thrown into my front derailer.

That is just an epic shot, isn't it?
Go check out the TeamEstrogen forum for more great shots by Kali and her buddy.
Update: Turns out that Kalidurga's friend Jeannine took that shot. Here's one that Kalidurga took, an artistic shot picturing some guy out for a ride in the country, enjoying the scenery. Nice shot - thanks!
Erleide, Sau!

*shakes head* and you people call this fun?!?
Hehe, takes all kinds I guess. Just keep your live worms away from my skinny tired bikes!
Jeannine took the great worm shot. I got this one: http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z163/KaliDurga/LiliPonsCross_2008-09-28/009-b2.jpg
And why the hell won't Blogger allow the html tag for url's in comments, huh? Am I missing something?
I don't see the worm...I don't wanna see the worm
I worked on a farm in the summers as a kid but I have a question. Is that a cross bike or a manure spreader?
Crispy - you have no idea how much fun it is. And, when I'm out there suffering and cross-eyed, I don't have any idea how much fun it is either.
Kalidurga - thanks. I'm using it, hope it's not copyrighted. Good shot of some major sufferage there.
bettybetty - I'm not going to touch that comment.
John - are you referring to the bicycle, or the guy standing behind it? Because I think we all know who the manure spreader is in these parts...
That was one great shot of the bike. I loved how descriptive that shot was.
If i wasn't going to be in San Fransicso for work this weekend, I'd be there in Cooperstown as well. Great brewery--be sure to try their 3 Philosophers.
What's wrong with the second photo? It clearly proves that there were at least 2 people in that race who were slower than you.
Unless you are about to get lapped.
good to you racing outside of the mid atlantic brother...
mucho respect
fatmarc
Harry - that's what I thought. *Great* picture.
Jon - will do. May report on it.
Mike - I have no idea. Second bitterest moment in the race - getting lapped by about 6 guys. Bitterest moment - the refs not pulling me when they had the opportunity to do so.
Marc - let's see if the fatboy can represent... and stay out of the beer long enough to complete the race. On the out-of-zone topic, major props have to go to Jean Colsant, who wet to Wisconsin last week and won *both* women's 4 races. Can you say "Mandatory Upgrade"? Jean can...

You can buy all the Ommengang you want at The Perfect Pour in Columbia when you run out of the stuff you buy this weekend. If you get lucky, you might find it at Village Liquours in Waugh Chapel near your house.
Personally I prefer the real deal. St Bernadus Apt 12 it not much more money than the wannabe's.
Perfect Pour has that too. Hehehe.
Gawd im shuch a shill!
I heading to the Eastern Shore this weekend. Theres a little package store on rt-1 near the camp goundthan has some Brother Thelonius abbey style ale that pretty good.
