It is in beautiful riding country, in the Bayerische Spessart, that is the mountainous and hilly country north of Nuernberg/Wuerzburg, an hour east of Frankfurt and 10 minutes East of Fulda.

It is a gorgeous old monastery where you can rent a room for $30 per night, after you've enjoyed the brew.

It isn't always open. They don't make all that much beer. It isn't bottled and shipped all around the world, though they will let you rent a keg, which you can bring back and have refilled from time to time. You kind of have to go there to enjoy it, sort of like drinking from a fresh mountain spring it just wouldn't be the same packaged in bottles and shipped everywhere by truck.

Jim...so I'm waiting for you to mull over the mabra standings and come out w/ the perhaps 1st annual sandbagger medals/trophies/beer can? So...up for the challenge? - Jeff
Jeff, I'm not going to say a thing about who might be sandbaggin' it in the Cat 4 ranks. The table and the rules speak for themselves. Here's what the rules say for 'cross upgrades:
4-3: Need 20 points in any 12-month period; or experience in 25 qualifying races with a minimum of 10 top-ten finishes. 30 points in 12 months is an automatic upgrade.
3-2: Need 25 points in any 12-month period. 40 points in 12 months is an automatic upgrade.
2-1: Need 25 points in any 12-month period. 40 points in 12 months is an automatic upgrade.
I'll just be AT&T on this one - YOU make the call.
FWIW, I think sandbagged points are just points that other riders, riding in the appropriate class, could have earned toward their own upgrade.
I'm leaning toward suggesting that when Cat 4s hit the mandatory upgrade point that they be boosted into the next category. And, if you really want an accurate point total, you need to refigure the points from the MABRA & MAC &/or USGP races using the USAC Rulebook.
I know there was a lot of discussion re: sandbagging on your blog here....thought it might continue... 8^) and given the other sandbag emails going on - the time was ripe. Certainly all races must be looked at....mabra/mac/va for most but some folks travel north too...but thought w/in mabra itself the scoring might be worth a discussion. I don't imply calling people out per se and do agree that its not fair to riders who have won this year but not in years past should be called that...and least of all Cat 4's as if this is one's first year of cross - then its fair to stay there and duke it out...perhaps try a B race too..and in fact some cat 4's moved up mid way. But there must be at least a couple sandbaggers in there...NO???
Oh, the humanity. Please tell me you're not connected with the 11th Show Horse there, Unholy Rouleur. ...because I enjoy the blog, and my 2ACR affiliations contain a mandatory rejection clause for all things emanating from Fulda (delicious beer excepted).
