Never bite your fixed gear...

Unlike most bikes, fixies know how to bite back.

What do you mean I "should be careful when I'm cleaning
the chain my fixie 'because it's different'?"

Has anybody seen my finger? This mean bicycle knocked me down and left me here. Help!

The whole photoset - a cautionary tale in pictures for those not smart enough to head verbal warnings - here.

Oh maaaaaaan, that smarts!!! I would be so angry at my fixie after that, I'm not sure I could keep it! Ouch!

That's why I never clean my bikes.

Just kidding, but I've never been a great believer in the "spin the wheel and grab the moving parts" technique.

I'm having trouble teaching my 3 year-old kid to not screw with the fixie when I'm working on it. I rolled up a piece of paper, made him watch as I spun the wheel up and slipped the paper into the front chainring, between the chain and ring. The paper came out with a bunch of holes in it and mostly cut in two parts. I said if he didn't take more care, that's what would happen. The kid fell down and cried. Then he got up and started to spin the wheel again.

I think he's going to be a trackie. Or a downhill racer. He's just got that mentality...
