Cross Thoughts...

- I'm not sure which Cross races to sign up for. I'm looking for races in the MABRA area. This weekend, Oct 20, and Oct 28 are out. So is Thanksgiving. Otherwise, I'm looking to hit a race every other week. Any suggestions from the local Cross-a-holics, Crossophiles, and Crossochondriacs?

- The weekend of Oct 20 is reserved for The Assault on the C&O Canal II : The Re-Embigening. We had to bag out after completing about 90% of the first day's ride during an earlier assault on the Canal in June, as the typhoon hit and dropped seven to nine inches of rain on the trail, literally. We did about 75 or 80 miles and just quit. Water was up over our bottom brackets in places, and it rained for probably 6 out of 7 hours on the trail, most of that rain coming in downpour fashion. Anyhow, a half dozen or 8 of the LBS ride crew are driving up to Cumberland and we're going to do a 2 day re-assault, mostly on cross bikes rigged fixed gear style, though people with excess gearing are welcome too. I don't know why I'm putting this under Cross thoughts. Oh well, you don't like how I organize my thoughts, tough. You can go to the Dewey Decimal System Blog and hang out with those unduly orderly bastids.

- Want to see some great pics? Check out the shots that Brad Devries, Coppi Cross wonk, blacksmith, and Dennis Miller lookalike extraordinaire, took while he was in Belgium last year. Here's a sample:

Nice, huh? That guy is dirty enough to be in an Oxy Clean commercial.

Well, of course, you must be doing Tacchino Ciclicross on Nov. 4th, right? After all, that's a Coppi-sponsored race, I think. I have the very modest goal of doing 3 cross races this season, and that's one of them. I've already done Charm City, so my third one is going to be the Cap 'Cross Classic at Lake Fairfax in Reston on Dec. 3.

Thanks for the advice. I'll see which ones fit in.

Tacchino is definitely on the calendar. Not sure about which of the others will work. The critiques help though.
