Cat Named!

Thanks for the input on names for the kitten I pulled out of traffic last Friday after the Squadra Coppi muffin ride. According to the vet, the kitten was probably feral based on his condition, but was pretty healthy and blessed with an unusually sweet disposition.

We had some intensive negotiations about the name. For a while, it looked like it would be Allez Cat, but the name doesn't have the right ring to it; my French accent sounds as bad to me as it does to others. Mandy opposed Fausto, she just didn't like the name. But much to her credit, she suggested Coppi Cat. So Coppi Cat it is. Here's a picture. You'll notice that Coppi very gamely avoided typical photo "red eye," in favor of "Coppi Blue eye". He's a classy cat.

nom de chat. perfect. we'll expect to see photos in a little kitty sweater with the coppi's colors this winter at the cross races.

all of our cats have come from no kill shelters and the orange tabbies were always the most affectionate. we lost one recently and it was very sad.

i wish you many years of happiness and offer my congratulations on extending kindness to an animal that probably wasn't getting enough of it.

vaya con gatos,

Thanks much for the kind words, Scott. It seemed pretty clear to me the kitten was put there for a reason and I had to circle around and pick it up, and that I would regret it badly if I did not. I believe we're supposed to be good stewards of the critters.

I agree with you about adoption. Our last three cats were two feral cats, and a cat facing destruction at the shelter. Our last dog was a rescue greyhound. They've all been wonderful companions.
